Emilia Deutsch. Polish, Czech, Sorbian and German proverbs on female loquacity and tendency to gossiping. Psychological and socio-cultural analysis based on selected examples (with regard to the 19th century mentality)

The paper describes Polish, Czech, Sorbian and German proverbs on female loquacity and tendency to gossiping. Selected proverbs are analyzed from psychological perspective (on the basis of the results presented in works on differences between the sexes), but taking into consideration cultural factors (with regard to scientific works on 19th century mentality, stories by the people living in that age, as well as handbooks and other 19th century publications). Main concepts analyzed in the article are: female loquacity (analyzed from the psychological and cultural point of view), tendency to gossiping (analyzed from the psychological and cultural point of view), and the praise of female ability to remain silent (analyzed from cultural point of view).
